Now That You've Applied...
Reminder Checklist
Congratulations again on your acceptance to the UNCG Guarantee Program. As you know, UNCG Guarantee offers more than just a debt free education—it is also a support system to help ensure your success while you're at UNCG.
The Office of Undergraduate Student Excellence will be your main contact for support and mentoring throughout the summer and during the entire time you are here at UNCG. Rachel Rodney and I are here to help guide and support you in whatever you need.
Soon you will officially be a UNCG Spartan - I hope you are getting excited! Between now and then, here are several very important things to keep in mind:
Housing
Make sure that you have completed your online application for housing. You will be required to live in a Living-Learning Community if you are accepted as a Guarantee scholar. If you are a member of the Honors College in addition to being a Guarantee Scholar, then you are required to live in North Spencer Hall and also participate in a non-residential Learning Community. If you have not already done so, please select an LLC as a preference. If you have already applied, you can log back in to your application and change your preferences.
Immunizations
Your immunizations need to be sent to the Student Health Center. You will need to fill out the Student Medical Form and send it along with your immunizations to:
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro
Anna M. Gove Student Health Center
Student Health Services, Immunization Office
107 Gray Drive
Greensboro, NC 27402-6170
SOAR
It is so important that you register for the earliest SOAR possible. Click here for the list of SOAR dates and you will find instructions on how to register for a SOAR session here.
First-Year Experience Course
As you are registering for classes at SOAR, it is imperative that you register for a First-Year Experience Course during your first semester here at UNCG. This is not only a requirement for UNCG Guarantee Scholars, but it will also be immensely beneficial to your undergraduate career. Your advisor will help you choose the course best suited for your area of study. Examples include:
- ISL course that corresponds with your Living-Learning community
- Foundations for Learning - FFL 100 or 101
- Honors Colloquium I
- School of Education Teaching Fellows Seminar
- Bryan School of Business - BUS 105
- School of Nursing - NUR 110
- Freshman Seminar Course - FMS 100
Welcome Program
We have a special Welcome Program planned for our Guarantee Scholars. The weekend is required as it will be full of important information and fun activities so you won't want to miss it! Watch for details coming your way soon.
Bookstore Bucks
You can now charge your textbooks to your student account by signing up for Bookstore Bucks. This will be the easiest way for you to get your textbooks for class. They will be charged to your student account and your UNCG Guarantee scholarship will cover the cost. Go to bookstorebucks.uncg.edu to sign up. You will also save 7% on all of your textbook purchases. Also, if you order your textbooks before North Carolina's Tax free week-end (August 6th) you will have additional savings of state sales tax. We'll help you with all of this when the time gets closer, but just wanted to go ahead and urge you to sign up now.
If you have questions or concerns throughout any of these processes, please don't hesitate to contact us. Our office number is 336-334-5534 and emails are: kpthomps@uncg.edu (Kristen) or rerodney@uncg.edu (Rachel).
