How Do I Get The UNCG Guarantee?

To be considered for the UNCG Guarantee program students must first complete the Eligibility Screening to ensure that applicants meet our minimum eligibility requirements. Available October 1st, 2018 for Fall 2019 Applicants.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • North Carolina resident who is eligible for FAFSA
  • Recent high school/early college graduate admitted to UNC Greensboro as a first-year undergraduate student (continuing and transfer students ineligible)
  • Meet minimum GPA AND Test Score criteria:
    • 3.5 weighted High School Grade Point Average   
    • Composite SAT 1030 OR Composite ACT 20
  • Meet Income Criteria: Students must demonstrate significant financial need as determined by the information provided through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Household income must not exceed 100% of the federal poverty guidelines (based on household size).

If deemed initially eligible, students will receive a personalized link via email to complete our program application that requests the following information for further consideration:

  • A 500-750 words essay based on a given prompt
  • Two (2) recommendation letters that speak to student engagement
  • Information on extracurriculars involvements and awards/honors throughout high school career. 

Applications are then reviewed on a rolling basis by the UNCG Guarantee Selection Committee. Selected finalists are notified via email and required to complete the Financial Verification process through the Financial Aid Office. Students are then accepted or denied based on verification results.
