The application for the Guarantee Scholars Program opens on January 1st each year. Upon completing the application form, applicants will move through an initial eligibility review. If an applicant meets the initial eligibility criteria, their application packet will be moved onto the Scoring Committee.

Offers of program acceptance are sent after all applicants have been reviewed by the scoring committee. At which point, any remaining complete or incomplete applications will be closed. We may be unable to notify incomplete applicants of the application portal closure.

To be eligible, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a North Carolina Resident who is eligible for FAFSA
  • Recent high school graduate (within the last 8 months) admitted to UNC Greensboro as a first-year student pursuing their first undergraduate degree
  • Must have at least a 3.5 weighted high school GPA
  • Must have a Student Aid Index (SAI) of -1500 on the 2024-2025 FAFSA.

Application decisions are also sent to students who meet all eligibility requirements after review of their FAFSA file and Admissions application. If you believe that you meet the eligibility requirements above, we invite you to begin the application using the button below.

Scholar application packets require submission of the Guarantee Program Application below, two letters of recommendation, a completed FAFSA, and a UNC Greensboro Admissions application. Therefore, applicants must complete all steps before the application close date. Your application packet will be incomplete without all pieces submitted and will be ineligible for scoring.
